History

Children are given the opportunity to study the big picture of history considering its chronological context. In topics the children experience a ‘launch’ activity to engage and inspire them and they work towards a ‘landing’ which will give the topic context and purpose. Children learn about topics through the strands of; government, society, culture and trade. To develop wider understanding and underpin reading skills, children will have access to challenging selections of texts, both non-fiction and fiction linking to topics.

History programmes of study follow the National Curriculum. To view the National Curriculum please click here.
